Measures to Improve Security in Ajusco Area

In the capital, specifically in the Ajusco area, in the Tlalpan borough, it has been identified as a red flag in terms of security, which has motivated the government to implement measures to improve conditions in the area. The aim is to reinforce coordination between federal authorities, as well as with the states of Mexico and Morelos, due to the border location of the area that complicates the pursuit of criminals.

Ajusco has posed a security challenge for Mexico City for years, with issues including illegal tree cutting, among other crimes. Recently, tensions in the region have intensified, leading the capital government, led by the Secretary of Government, César Cravioto, and the local mayor, Gabriela Osorio, to take actions to address citizens' demands and develop a plan to combat the crimes present in the area.

In a press conference, the head of government announced that actions are being defined together with the security cabinet to improve security in Ajusco and prevent the commission of crimes. These measures will include the installation of security cameras, streetlights, and strategic police controls. It is recognized that the lack of lighting and communication, as well as the borders with other states, facilitate the commission of crimes in the area.

Security is a primary issue for the head of government, Clara Brugada, which has gained importance in the political arena, especially after incidents such as the murder of an Uber driver on the Picacho-Ajusco highway in January of this year. In light of these events, the aim is to prevent Ajusco from becoming an abandoned place and to implement new measures to ensure the safety of residents, as a result of a comprehensive strategy to combat crime in the region.
