Interpol's Red Notice for Ex-Governor Remains Active

The Attorney General's Office of Mexico confirms that the red notice against former Tamaulipas Governor Francisco Javier García Cabeza de Vaca has not been canceled by Interpol. The former governor falsely claimed Interpol annulled it due to unsubstantiated accusations. The FGR stated that the notification was temporarily suspended due to a legal challenge, but not eliminated.

Interpol's Red Notice for Ex-Governor Remains Active

The Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR) denied the claim that Interpol had annulled the red notice against former governor Francisco Javier García Cabeza de Vaca. The former governor of Tamaulipas had stated that the cancellation was due to Interpol considering the accusations against him unfounded.

The FGR explained through a statement that the notification of the red notice was temporarily suspended due to an injunction granted to García Cabeza de Vaca, which was challenged by the FGR and still has no definitive resolution. The former governor has been accused twice of organized crime and money laundering, according to the FGR. Although amparo judges in Tamaulipas have ruled in favor of the politician, the FGR emphasized that these are not definitive and have been contested.

The Attorney General's Office of the Republic indicated that it will continue investigating those who issued those judicial resolutions and will act according to the law in the exercise of its functions. Likewise, it reiterated that Interpol has not removed the red notice due to the inadmissibility of the legal actions taken against García Cabeza de Vaca.

For his part, the former governor stated that Interpol informed him about the annulment of the red notice notification issued against him by the FGR. According to García Cabeza de Vaca, Interpol determined that the accusations lack legal basis and have been motivated by a campaign of political persecution against him.

The former governor asserted that he will continue defending himself in all jurisdictions and forums to uphold his rights against what he considers a political persecution. He added that the amparo courts in Mexico have supported his position by declaring the actions of the FGR unconstitutional and the invalidity of the detention order against him.
