Former President Felipe Calderón decided to eliminate the tradition of holding evening parties with grilled sausage, so as not to give rise to the appearance of false information, especially in relation to rumors associated with his relationship with alcohol. This Mexican politician held the presidential banner from 2006 to 2012, when power transitioned to Enrique Peña Nieto. Calderón confirmed the rumors about his alcoholism and explained that the reason for the attacks on him is that he no longer holds evening parties with grilled sausage. "I really enjoy spending time with my friends, making grilled sausage and gathering together, but I no longer do this in order not to provoke rumors about me drinking in such places or to prevent anything else," stated the former Mexican president in an interview for Jordi Rosado.
Calderón also noted that earlier he used to sing with mariachis, but now he has stopped doing this to avoid being "unduly accused." He emphasized that he has been a healthy lifestyle advocate, both during and after his presidency.
Felipe Calderón acknowledged rumors about his alcohol issues, noting that these statements appeared with the aim of harming his reputation. He pointed out that Los Pinos was always open for tours during his presidency and emphasized that he never used the large building for parties; it served as offices.
