Former senator Miguel Ángel Yunes confirmed his affiliation with the Morena party in a gesture that has been interpreted as support for the presidency of the Republic of Mexico. Yunes expressed his satisfaction at feeling welcomed and at home within this political party.
In addition, Yunes indicated that he has decided to withdraw the challenge presented before the electoral authority, as he believes that the situation was stagnant and it made no sense to continue with that resource. The Veracruz politician emphasized that he had been collaborating with Morena for months and wanted to formalize his affiliation.
The parliamentary coordinator Adán Augusto López Hernández highlighted the importance of Miguel Ángel Yunes' participation in obtaining the qualified majority that Morena needed in the Senate. Yunes also participated in the approval of constitutional reforms proposed by this political party.
In a previous meeting with Morena leaders, Yunes confirmed that he was in the process of affiliating with the party and expressed his support for the figures of Luisa Alcalde and Andrés Manuel López Beltrán. However, he mentioned that he would wait for a process to be resolved before completing his affiliation.
Despite his new affiliation with Morena, Yunes stated that he has no intention of belonging to another political party. He emphasized his respect for Morena and for the prominent figures of this party, such as Luisa Alcalde, whom he admires and personally respects.
Miguel Ángel Yunes' affiliation with Morena has generated various comments, as his vote has been crucial for the approval of reforms and laws proposed by the party. Yunes thus joins a list of former members of other parties who have chosen to join the ranks of Morena in the Senate.
