The sports network FOX Sports Mexico announced this Tuesday that it will take legal action against Fox Corporation and Grupo Pachuca, according to a statement issued by the company. The decision is due to the need to safeguard the broadcasting rights of the matches of the Pachuca and Club León teams, belonging to Grupo Pachuca, because of what they consider arbitrary and abusive conduct by the mentioned entities.
The statement explains that the legal action arises from the celebration of contracts between Grupo Pachuca and Fox Corporation, which violate the rights previously established in agreements formalized with Grupo Pachuca regarding the broadcasting of the matches of the mentioned teams. FOX Sports Mexico made the decision to resort to the corresponding judicial instances to demand compliance with what was agreed upon between the involved companies.
The contracts between Grupo Pachuca and Fox Corporation, through Tubi, one of its subsidiaries, have been the main reason for the controversy. These contracts for the broadcasting of the matches of Pachuca and León, from Liga MX, did not respect the right of preference that FOX Sports Mexico holds, resulting in damages and prejudices to the company's broadcasts.
Furthermore, it is mentioned that FOX Sports Mexico has filed commercial lawsuits against Grupo Pachuca and Fox Corporation, among others, and has obtained a precautionary measure ordering Grupo Pachuca to refrain from delivering the signal of the matches in which Pachuca and León play as home teams to Fox Corporation and/or Tubi, until a definitive resolution is issued in the corresponding lawsuits.
For its part, FOX Sports Mexico reaffirms its commitment to the audience and its intention to defend its rights before the competent authorities. Despite the possible inconveniences that may arise, the company will seek to minimize the impact on fans of Mexican football, preserving fairness and legality in the sports broadcasting market in the country.
