Rogelio Ramírez de la O Resigns as Finance Secretary

Rogelio Ramírez de la O submitted his resignation as Secretary of Finance to President Claudia Sheinbaum on Friday, March 7, according to official sources. His resignation comes after being ratified in the position after being part of the cabinet of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. In his place, the president appointed Edgar Amador Zamora, who held the position of Undersecretary of Finance.

Ramírez de la O is a prominent figure in the financial sphere, with an extensive career in both the national and international sectors. During his tenure, he maintained close relationships with bankers, entrepreneurs, and public officials. Last November, he was responsible for presenting the 2025 Economic Package, which he himself considered realistic and that provided the opportunity to design new long-term investment projects.

Claudia Sheinbaum had confirmed Ramírez de la O's continued presence in the Secretary of Finance one day after taking office, on June 3. At that time, she highlighted his professional qualities and reputation at both the national and international levels, assuring that he would contribute to effective economic management. The inclusion of Ramírez de la O in Sheinbaum's cabinet initially generated controversies due to his alleged refusal and subsequent acceptance of the position.

Rogelio Ramírez de la O's resignation as Secretary of Finance marks the end of his term in Claudia Sheinbaum's government, leaving a legacy of his experience and ties in the financial sector.
