Guanajuato Governor Meets with Federal Security Cabinet

The governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, met at the National Palace with President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and the Security Cabinet to discuss new strategies against violence in the state. During the meeting, greater operational coordination and strengthening of financial oversight to combat organized crime were agreed upon.

Among the commitments made, the upcoming visit of the Secretary of National Defense, General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, and the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, to Guanajuato was highlighted to follow up on security actions. The governor emphasized the importance of reinforcing the presence of security forces and improving operational intelligence to maintain the downward trend in homicides linked to organized crime.

Another point discussed in the meeting was the need to monitor the entry of foreign individuals who could be involved in criminal activities, requesting greater intervention from the National Migration Institute. The importance of strengthening collaboration with the SAT and the Financial Intelligence Unit to attack the financial networks of organized crime was raised.

During the meeting, some results from the governor's administration were presented, such as the detention of 1,086 individuals related to violence generation and the seizure of more than 445,000 liters of stolen hydrocarbons, generating an economic impact of more than 10 million pesos for criminal groups. Despite the reduction in homicides reported during March by state authorities, the ongoing challenge is to maintain this trend in the long term.
