Ceci Flores Defends Victims in Response to President

Ceci Flores, founder of the Madres Buscadoras de Sonora collective, expressed a strong message in response to President Claudia Sheinbaum's stance on supporting Andrés Manuel López Obrador regarding the discovery of a clandestine crematorium in Teuchitlán, Jalisco. This crematorium is suspected to have been used by an organized crime group as a field for extermination and training.

In her statement, Ceci Flores requested understanding for the pain that affected the country and added: 'I apologize for any inconvenience the pain of an entire country may cause you.' The search for the truth about what happened in Teuchitlán is a crucial issue for Flores and her collective, who are engaged in a tireless struggle to find their missing loved ones.

President Sheinbaum, in her morning conference on March 14, criticized opponents who call López Obrador a 'narcopresident' and reminded them that the information about the use of the property in Teuchitlán has not yet been confirmed. In response to accusations against López Obrador for his alleged inaction regarding the grim discovery, Sheinbaum defended the former president.

In response, Ceci Flores expressed her disagreement with the president's stance and anticipated the presentation of a detailed report on the progress of the investigations into the clandestine crematorium. She emphasized that the real victims were not the criminals, but their children, who were turned to ashes to prevent their relatives from being able to say goodbye to them.

The activist stressed that the only ones affected in Teuchitlán were the loved ones, and that the true victims deserve justice. For her part, Sheinbaum underscored the importance of waiting for the authorities to provide complete information about the case before making definitive conclusions. The Attorney General's Office, in conjunction with the Jalisco Attorney's Office, is conducting an investigation into the matter, which requires caution and accuracy in the judgments issued.
