A 10-year-old girl and a 19-year-old young woman were left orphans following the murder of their mother, María del Carmen Morales, and her brother, Jaime Daniel Ramírez Morales, early Thursday morning in the Las Villas neighborhood, in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco. The woman was a member of the collective Guerreros Buscadores de Jalisco, which she joined after the disappearance of her older son, Ernesto Julián Ramírez Morales, in February 2024.

Indira Navarro, leader of the collective, expressed her sorrow for the member of her group and recalled that María del Carmen had lost her husband five years ago. "That’s why she is in the collective. This is not the first time this happens. So, as a victim, we have to provide all the support and everything we can," Navarro stated. The leader of the collective also acknowledged that authorities showed willingness to facilitate funeral arrangements.

"The director from this morning and the chief of the public ministries have also helped them get all the paperwork, this transfer and everything. And I don’t know, honestly I’m a bit desperate right now, I haven’t slept," she concluded. "But, as I say, hopefully this support and the speeding up of procedures could always occur," she commented.

The autopsy for María del Carmen was scheduled for 9:30 in the morning and, because this is a femicide case, the procedure will take more time, said the searcher. Navarro expressed the collective's pain over this loss and her stance on the authorities' action. "She remains a seeker and a victim. It wasn't very common in the searches, it was few, but she was very active in posting notices, in the collective, in the group," she explained.

Regarding the preliminary statements that she said have been circulated by the State Prosecutor’s Office, Navarro expressed doubts about the speed with which official information has been released. "There will always be comments about everything, I say this also because of the Prosecutor's Office statement, how is it that within a matter of hours they put out a resolution or give context to everything that's happened," she questioned.

Additionally, she referenced a 10-year-old girl and a 19-year-old young woman who were left orphans after the murder of their mother head of the family. "In the end, they are leaving behind two, a young lady of 19 years and a 10-year-old girl, orphaned and without siblings. So, we hope that really, really this time, and not just this time, they always deliver results," she expressed. She lamented that such events are what trigger institutional responses. "We are seeing all the people, I mean, how to expect that these kinds of things and situations happen for them to be expedited."
