Corruption in Mexico: Lack of Protection for Whistleblowers

The Network in Defense of Digital Rights denounces that the current legislation in Mexico does not protect whistleblowers, making it difficult to report acts of corruption.

The Network in Defense of Digital Rights has stated in a statement that in Mexico the current legislation does not include provisions that protect whistleblowers, which in turn discourages reports related to acts of corruption and other irregularities.

According to the organization, the fact that there is no legal framework supporting those who report illegal activities may lead many to choose not to expose these harmful practices for fear of retaliation or lack of protection.

In this regard, the Network in Defense of Digital Rights emphasizes the importance of recognizing and safeguarding the role of whistleblowers in Mexican legislation, in order to promote an environment of transparency and accountability in all areas of society.

Moreover, the organization stresses that having mechanisms to protect whistleblowers would significantly contribute to the fight against corruption and the strengthening of democratic institutions in the country.

In the words of the Network in Defense of Digital Rights: "It is essential to promote legal reforms that guarantee the protection of whistleblowers, as their role is crucial for denouncing corrupt practices and ensuring greater transparency in the management of public affairs."
