Mexican authorities arrested four people in Tabasco state on suspicion of extortion. The operation resulted in the seizure of weapons and drugs. This is part of a national strategy to combat this crime.

Four people were arrested in Tabasco on suspicion of the crime of "protection racketeering", reported Omar García Harfuch, head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection of the Mexican government.

During the operation, authorities seized four long-barreled weapons, tactical equipment, and drugs.

Omar García Harfuch, head of the agency, reported through his X account that the arrest and seizure were carried out as part of the National Strategy Against Extortion.

"As part of the National Strategy to combat extortion, the MX Security Cabinet, together with authorities from Tabasco, detained 4 people for extortion, seizing 4 long-barreled weapons, tactical equipment, and drugs".

However, the official did not specify to which criminal cell or gang the criminal activity of these four individuals is attributed.

"This operation is part of the National Strategy to combat extortion, designed to reduce the incidence of this crime that affects merchants and small businesses in different entities of the country".
