The book by Julio Scherer in co-authorship with journalist Jorge Fernández, which will be available to the public in a few hours, is shaking the circles of the ruling party. The most mentioned name is that of Gerardo Esquivel, who wants to enter the Government from the start but is vetted in Palenque due to his behavior on the Bank of Mexico's Governing Board, where he used to present counterpoints to López Obrador. Esquivel, who has access to Sheinbaum, actually intends to lead Pemex, but coordinating advisors would be an intermediate step towards the Torre de Anzures. In the presidential staff, there are doubts because the message would be forceful: an ally of obradorismo leaves and an economist who is not a friend of the former president enters. From that position, Esquivel could oversee issues critical to the president: the lack of growth, the pace of investment, or the first signs of a certain slowdown in employment data. «Neither forgetting nor forgiveness», as has been leaked in various media, brings to light the deep relationship between Sergio Carmona, a 4T campaign financier and murdered in Nuevo León in 2021, the current coordinator of advisors Jesús Ramírez Cuevas, and former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. The book, besides unsettling several friends of Carmona — the architect of fiscal huachicol —, increases the pressure on Ramírez Cuevas, who comes from a complex weekend after the N+ investigation exposed one of his closest journalists, Alejandro Páez Varela, sponsored by the former spokesperson and with difficult-to-explain patrimonial issues. Last night, Monday, the data that Ramírez would resign circulated forcefully, promoted from the National Palace, which this Tuesday President Claudia Sheinbaum slightly rejected, by saying there were no reasons for his departure. The same calm prior to the fall of former coordinator Adán Augusto López Hernández and the departure of Alejandro Gertz Manero. In any case, the perception of an imminent departure is on the table, and that is why in the cabinet, options for his replacement are already being discussed.
