The 25-year-old content creator, from Sonora, Mexico, had to deny any connection to the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). According to Mexican authorities, the operation against the criminal group's leader was carried out after monitoring people in his inner circle, including a presumed romantic partner with whom he allegedly met in a rural area of the Tapalpa municipality. Based on this story, internet users began to point to María Julissa—an influencer known for her lifestyle, fashion, and sports content—as the woman involved, something she firmly denied. Seeing what was happening, she decided to speak out against the spread of rumors that, besides being false, could expose her to dangerous situations. 'I want to make it clear: I have nothing to do with this situation,' she stated in her statement. On social media, photographs, audio recordings, and montages have circulated that supposedly link the influencer to the drug trafficker. However, to this day, there is no official confirmation of the authenticity of that material, and the creator herself warned that many images and recordings can be manipulated. Despite her saying she has nothing to do with it, apparently, cartel members have placed threat posters against the girl for supposedly turning in her boss. 'Bitch, María Julissa, you bit the hand that fed you. You sent the marines to Chelo because they stole your pickup truck,' can be read on a banner that was hung in the Jalisco area. María has about 3.5 million followers on her main Instagram account.
