Former Professor Sentenced to Prison for Feminicide in Hidalgo

The Attorney General's Office of Hidalgo (PGJEH) announced the conviction of a former professor at the Polytechnic University of Pachuca (UPP) for the femicide of Lilian, a 20-year-old young woman to whom he was renting a room. According to the Prosecutor's official bulletin, the ruling was issued by the judicial authority after an oral trial hearing held on March 12, 2026, in the criminal courts of Apan. The ministerial investigations specified that Juan Pablo V.H. had been "renting a room to the victim in a home located in the Carros neighborhood, in Ciudad SahagĂșn, Tepeapulco municipality, which generated a relationship of trust between both people". According to the official report, the crime occurred inside a property where the subject "exercised sexual and physical violence against the victim, who presented multiple injuries in various parts of the body". After the attack that took the woman's life, the accused "left the body in the bathroom of the property and tried to make it appear that the victim's death was associated with gas poisoning". However, the PGJEH detailed that because the investigation was carried out under the femicide protocol, evidence was obtained against the accused that discredited this version. After the ruling was issued by the trial court, the authorities informed that the hearing for the determination of sanctions will be held on March 19, 2026, a date on which the sentence that the accused must serve will be known.
