Five custodians of the Male Social Reintegration Center (CRS) in Atlacholoaya, Morelos, were apprehended after being allegedly caught attempting to introduce drugs and communication equipment, reported the state Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC). During the inspection, carried out as staff was arriving for work, the five detained officers were Aldo Jocsan “N”, Jesús “N”, Camilo “N”, Miguel Ángel “N” and Juan Jesús “N”. Four mobile phones, 110 chips from different companies with assigned numbers, accessories, chargers, and a repair kit were found on them. Additionally, the agency reported that they also seized “approximately 1,024 kilograms of a substance similar to crystal in two packages, three tactical knives, and two bottles of alcoholic beverages.” The operation was carried out as part of actions derived from the National Strategy against Extortion, in coordination with members of the Table for Building Peace and Security in Morelos. It also involved the Internal Affairs Directorate of the SSPC Morelos and representatives from the State Human Rights Commission. According to the agency, these inter-institutional operations are carried out permanently in the five state penitentiary centers with the objective of “inhibiting the introduction of mobile phones used in extortion acts and combating this high-impact crime.” Likewise, the SSPC indicated that these actions were reinforced after the entry into force on November 29, 2025, of the General Law to Prevent, Investigate, and Sanction Crimes in Matters of Extortion, which led to a coordinated strategy between state and federal authorities. The custodians and the seized items were placed at the disposal of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for High-Impact Crimes (FIDAI) of the Attorney General's Office of the State of Morelos, and the Attorney General's Office, Cuernavaca branch, to continue the investigations and determine if there is a connection to other criminal acts. Finally, the state government stated that these results “reaffirm the commitment to continue with actions of police dignification, the fight against corruption, and zero impunity within the penitentiary system,” in line with the national strategy in the matter.
