From 2024 to the present, the state of Querétaro has shown a 42% decrease in intentional homicides, and a 29% decrease only in 2025. Additionally, it was highlighted that last year, 59 fewer intentional homicides were reported than in 2024 — dropping from 218 to 159 cases — which, he assured, represented the largest reduction in the last ten years. «We have the largest decrease in the history of high-impact crimes in Querétaro, specifically we can report that in the year 2025 and in this first quarter of 2026, we can highlight the largest decrease in the incidence of intentional homicides in more than a decade, we can even reach figures lower than those in 2011,» mentioned the state's Attorney General, Víctor Antonio De Jesús Hernández. The official also emphasized that last year, Querétaro accumulated a rate of 5.27 intentional homicides per 100,000 inhabitants, the fourth lowest in the country. Furthermore, regarding other high-impact crimes, he stated that the entity registered zero kidnappings in the last two years. Likewise, he asserted that in the same period, violent robberies decreased by 48.3%, with vehicle thefts seeing the largest drop at 76.9%, followed by residential burglaries at 60.9%, street robberies at 48.3%, business robberies at 40.1%, and motorcycle thefts at 33%. On the other hand, the Secretary of Citizen Security, Iován Pérez Hernández, reported that during the first quarter of 2026, the State Police detained 19,348 individuals, of which 2,709 were referred to the FGE for committing crimes, and 16,639 to civil courts for administrative offenses. He detailed that during the detentions, 763 vehicles, 124 firearms, and 32 kilos of drugs were seized. Moreover, he stressed that in that period, 401 searches were carried out, resulting in 90 arrest warrants fulfilled. This was highlighted by the Querétaro State Attorney General's Office (FGE), with data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System. During a press conference, the judicial body emphasized that in the first two months of 2024, the entity registered 24 of these crimes, but for the same period this year, the figure dropped to 15.
Crime Reduction in Querétaro
Since 2024, the state of Querétaro has recorded a significant decrease in intentional homicides and other high-impact crimes. According to authorities, this is the largest reduction in the last ten years, reaching levels not seen since 2011.
