The Chuchos tribe is now seeking to take control of the leadership of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) in the State of Mexico, which maintains its registration as a local party. Leader Nora Arias has displaced Jesús Zambrano and Ángel Ávila Romero from the PRD in Mexico City, threatening legal action for unpaid wages of the PRD CDMX.
The Chuchos have moved their operations to the State of Mexico, without the approval of Omar Ortega, who is the coordinator of the PRD caucus in the Congress of the State of Mexico and an important party leader in that region. Despite the resistance from Héctor Bautista, the Chuchos persist in their attempt to take control of the party in the state, where they will need to elect their leadership bodies according to the Electoral Institute of the State of Mexico (IEEM) in the next 60 days.
Jesús Zambrano and Jesús Ortega, after failing in Mexico City, are now trying to pressure through Agustín Barrera Soriano to obtain the leadership of the Aztec Sun in the State of Mexico. Their goal is to use this platform to expand to other states where they still maintain local registration and thus attempt to recover the necessary percentage for the national registration of the party.
However, they do not find enthusiasm or support from the PRD bases in Michoacán, Morelos, and the State of Mexico. Even an ally of Zambrano, Mayor Arturo Piña García of Villa de Allende, has expressed his disagreement with the Chuchos' plan. Nationally, the PRD continues in an endless agony after losing its registration as a political party.
