The Senate will receive the declinations of several ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, who have decided not to participate in the subsequent election. Despite this gesture, it has been clarified that the ministers will remain in their positions until August 2025, except for one whose term ends on November 30.
Gerardo Fernández Noroña stated in a live video on YouTube that the ministers are not resigning en masse but are declining to participate in future elections. Noroña expressed his disagreement with the attempts of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation to suspend the Judicial Reform to invalidate the election of judges, stating that they are violating the law and the constitutional framework.
Regarding the Judicial Reform, Noroña expressed his opposition to the attempts to remove it from the Official Journal of the Federation and emphasized the importance of respecting the Constitution. Through his social media, Noroña communicated that the resignation of the ministers is not a mass resignation, but a refusal to participate in future elections.
In his opinion, the ministers who are resigning do so to ensure their retirement benefits. Noroña emphasized that this is a situation in which some ministers have chosen not to participate in the elections to secure their pensions.
