José Alberto Rodríguez, known in Mexican wrestling as 'Alberto del Río', 'El Patrón', or 'Dos Caras Jr.', was arrested a couple of days ago on suspicion of domestic violence. The Attorney General's Office of San Luis Potosí informed on Tuesday, April 7, that it had initiated the relevant investigations for the probable crime of domestic violence against his partner. The wrestler was caught in the act by agents of the State Civil Guard (GCE) of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection in Lomas del Tecnológico, located in the capital of San Luis Potosí. According to a statement from the local prosecutor's office, he was arrested after law enforcement agents received a distress call from the victim in the afternoon of Monday, April 6. The accused was made available to the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for the Attention of Women, the Family, and Sexual Crimes. According to the victim's complaint, upon meeting Alberto del Río inside a home in the Lomas del Tecnológico subdivision, an argument began that led the accused to 'carry out various physical and verbal aggressions against his partner.' After the arrest by agents, the accused was made available to agents of the Public Ministry, who will be in charge of properly integrating the investigation file and presenting him before the judicial authority in the initial hearing, where he will have to answer for the acts attributed to him. Alberto del Río is originally from San Luis Potosí. Son of the renowned wrestler Dos Caras, he has three children and is currently a wrestling promoter, and occasionally a commentator for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He has also worked for wrestling companies such as the Mexican Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA), the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), and the American World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Alberto Rodríguez has been involved in other scandals, as happened in 2020, when he was arrested in San Antonio, Texas, United States, after his then-partner formally accused him of aggravated kidnapping and four counts of sexual assault.
