This morning an explosion was registered at the IMSS General Hospital – Bienestar "El Quemado", located in Acapulco, Guerrero. The Attorney General's Office of the State of Guerrero confirmed that it is investigating the incident. In a statement, they reported that elements of the Ministerial Investigative Police and forensic services are on site to carry out the initial procedures and collect the corresponding evidence.

"Your commitment to the Guerrero citizenry, guaranteeing access to justice and your firm determination in the fight against impunity," reiterated the institution, although they did not provide further specific details about what happened.

A video was shared on social media showing the damage caused by the explosion in the hospital, where affected furniture, windows, and curtains can be seen. The Secretariat for Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection of Guerrero reported that they attended to a report of a small fire on the second floor of the hospital, with no reports of injured persons.

According to the agency, the explosion was caused by the improper use of an oxygen tank and, after controlling the fire, an inspection was carried out. It was confirmed that the explosion was due to an oxygen tank, with no injuries in the incident.

Initially, it was reported that the explosion took place in the trauma area on the second floor, with six people present, of which two were injured. Hospital staff mentioned that the condition of the facilities could have caused a leak in one of the oxygen tanks that eventually exploded, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.
