
A violent explosion in front of the Public Security Secretariat of Acapulco resulted in the tragic deaths of a man and a woman in the Progreso neighborhood. The force of the explosion caused the instantaneous death of the couple, whose bodies remained at the site. Following the incident, elements of the Public Security Secretariat, the National Guard, and the Mexican Army arrived to secure the area and ensure safety, while forensic experts from the Attorney General's Office collected evidence.
Although no fragments of explosive material have been found yet, witnesses have mentioned that the explosion was caused by a fragmentation grenade. Neighbors alerted authorities about the explosion around 3:20 am on Friday, February 21. According to police reports, the couple, who were riding a motorcycle, died in the incident.
Preliminary information suggests that the detonation was caused by a hand grenade that the deceased were handling and that exploded before being thrown. The investigation continues to fully clarify the circumstances of this tragic event in Acapulco.
