A car bomb exploded Thursday morning in front of a police station in Acámbaro, a town in west-central Mexico. According to the district attorney's office of Guanajuato state, the attack left three police officers injured.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday when a vehicle parked near the police station exploded, causing material damage and leaving the security agents with injuries of varying severity.
"At this time, the officers are receiving medical attention and the relevant authorities are investigating what happened to determine those responsible for this violent act," a spokesperson for the district attorney's office communicated.
The explosion caused shock in the local community, which has been affected by the growing wave of violence in the region in recent months. Authorities have reinforced security in Acámbaro and urge the population to cooperate with any information that may be relevant to clarify the attack.
