A Technology teacher from Aguascalientes has become a victim of school harassment by a student and her mother. The teacher felt the need to clarify that a video of her dancing to the music was misinterpreted as inappropriate behavior. Following the viralization of the material, the situation spiraled out of control, resulting in insults and death threats directed towards her.
In an emotional public testimony, the teacher explained the constant harassment she has faced from a student and her mother, which has made her feel unsafe in her own work environment. Despite her efforts to avoid confrontations, verbal and physical violence has persisted, forcing her to have lunch alone or with students during recess to safeguard her integrity.
María Lara, the affected teacher, noted that she had never experienced negative situations before arriving at this school, where she was directly exposed to bullying. The discomfort stemmed from the dissemination of a video of her taken out of context and used for mockery. In light of this, the teacher questioned her students if there was anything wrong with her dancing, to which they responded negatively.
The brave teacher decided to make her story public to raise awareness about school harassment, which, far from being exclusive to students, can also affect teachers. Despite exposing her situation on social media, María Lara continues to lack the necessary support, even during her testimony where they turned off her microphone in an attempt to silence her complaint.
