The governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus, participated in the Seventh Regional Security Meeting held in Aguascalientes, with the aim of strengthening coordination between authorities of the three levels of government in matters of public security in the Western region of the country. This meeting, which brings together state representatives from entities such as Colima, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Nayarit, and Michoacán, as well as federal and military authorities, follows up on joint strategies for addressing security in the area.
State authorities highlighted that the head of state will present the progress made in the strategies implemented in Jalisco, focused mainly on strengthening equipment, the use of technology, and inter-institutional coordination, as well as actions in crime prevention and response. Likewise, it was recalled that these strategies include collaboration between corporations of the three orders of government, intelligence work, active patrolling, and the application of sentences.
Notably, the General Strategic Security Coordination reported that in March 2026, Jalisco recorded a 50% reduction in intentional homicides, according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System. Similarly, according to the figures, 64 cases were reported in March, compared to the 128 registered in November 2024, which was the last month of the previous administration.
In the report, state authorities emphasized that a total of 31 municipalities saw a reduction in this crime, mainly in those that make up the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG), where the largest part of the population is concentrated.
