Controversy Over Ice Cream Prices in Atlixco

In Atlixco, a municipality in Puebla, during the celebration of the downhill urban bike race, a citizen was outraged to discover that he paid 80 pesos for a medium-sized glass of lemon snow at a stand located in the Zocalo of Atlixco. The incident went viral on social media through a video where the affected individual showed the place of purchase and expressed his dissatisfaction with the overpricing.

In the approximately two-minute video, the tourist revealed that he spent 160 pesos for two glasses, when the usual cost of each ranges between 15 and 20 pesos in the area. During the recording, the buyer questioned the seller about the prices, showing his disbelief at what he considered an excessive value for the product.

Reactions online came promptly, with users commenting that the consumer should have inquired about the prices before making the purchase. Others mentioned that similar products are bought at higher prices in shopping centers without complaints, and some called for the Atlixco City Council to regulate street vendors to ensure transparency in price setting.

In light of the controversial situation, the affected citizen advised other consumers to avoid purchasing at that establishment to not fall into the same overpricing practices. With phrases like 'Don't buy here because it's expensive, 80 pesos for the snow,' the buyer highlighted the situation to raise awareness among visitors to the Zocalo of Atlixco.
