Atlixco is a place full of culture and history, ideal for lovers of Magical Towns, colonial houses, historic buildings, and delicious cuisine. Located just two and a half hours from Mexico City, with the imposing Popocatépetl volcano in the background, Atlixco de las Flores, as it is also known for its great floral activity, is perfect for disconnecting from daily routine.

One of the most anticipated temporary attractions in Atlixco is the Villa Iluminada, a light show that has been presented since 2011 for 45 days, starting this Friday, November 15, and culminating on the upcoming December 30. Some buildings are decorated with multicolored lights related to the Christmas celebration.

In addition to enjoying the Villa Iluminada, in Atlixco you can participate in activities such as horseback riding on the slopes of the Popocatépetl volcano or playing at the El Cristo or Cola de Lagarto golf clubs. It is a destination where boredom has no place, ideal for a family road trip, with friends, or as a couple.

In Atlixco, you can marvel at constructions dating back to 1528, such as the Convento de San Francisco, where you can explore its different parts, as well as visit the Parroquia de Santa María de la Natividad, a living example of colonial architecture.

Avenida Hidalgo and its kiosk are another highlight in Atlixco, with its vibrant colored houses adorned with flowers, paying homage to one of the most important activities in the region. Ideal for exploring craft shops and enjoying an ice cream or coffee in a charming setting.

Regarding gastronomy, Atlixco offers authentic regional food in places like La Troje, which was formerly a warehouse for grains and seeds, or at the restaurant Madre Tierra, with healthy and innovative options. Both are located within Hacienda Santo Cristo, an ideal place to enjoy the grandeur of the site.

For accommodation, Hacienda Santo Cristo offers modern rooms with all necessary amenities, having recently expanded its facilities to provide a more holistic environment. It is also possible to tour nurseries and the Jardín Mágico, filled with figures made of plants, as well as climb the Cerro de San Miguel to admire majestic views of the Popocatépetl volcano and the area.
