Collapse in Badiraguato Mine Leaves Two Dead

In the El Potrero area of Tepaca, in Badiraguato, Sinaloa, elements of the National Guard (GN) along with state and municipal Civil Protection authorities carried out the recovery of the bodies of two workers who were trapped due to a landslide in a mine.

According to the National Coordination of Civil Protection (CNPC), the tragic event was triggered while the miners were performing stabilization work on slopes and sampling to assess the viability of exploiting an old mine. A total of five workers were present at the site at the time of the landslide, with two of them, aged 50 and 37, who unfortunately became trapped.

The CNPC mentioned: "Thanks to the collaboration of authorities from the three levels of government, the bodies were recovered promptly. No further persons trapped or injured have been reported." Currently, support and monitoring work at the mine continues to be overseen by GN personnel, state and municipal Civil Protection, as well as Public Security and Municipal Traffic, with the aim of ensuring safety in the affected area.
