
The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced during the celebrations of the Mexican Army in Cerralvo, Nuevo León, that a decision will be made to increase the salaries of the members of the armed forces. In her words, she thanked and recognized the military as defenders of Mexican sovereignty, describing their work as an extraordinary effort and stating that they are a fundamental part of a peaceful and just transformation that the country is experiencing.
Sheinbaum led the festivities for the 112th Anniversary of the Mexican Army in Nuevo León and inaugurated the new facilities of the 27th Regiment of Motorized Cavalry in Cerralvo. Although she did not specify the amount of the salary increase or the effective date, the president praised the performance and importance of the armed forces for the Mexican state.
At the event, Sheinbaum presented awards to distinguished members of the National Army and provided support to those who are retired. She emphasized the importance of honesty, dedication, and love for the homeland as fundamental principles of the history and greatness of Mexico.
With Claudia Sheinbaum as the first woman president in the history of Mexico and the first Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the country is experiencing a time of women in leadership positions. Norberto Cortés Rodríguez, commander of the XI Military Region, mentioned that there are currently 30 women in the Cerralvo regiment and expects the number to rise to 600 in the near future, out of a total of more than 225,000 personnel.
As a gesture of gratitude, Sheinbaum announced alongside the secretary-general her decision to also increase the salaries of the women in the Armed Forces, thus highlighting her commitment to the work and dedication of all the members of this institution.
