The Attorney General of Justice of Chihuahua reported on the detention and transfer to the United States of Roland Alberto Muñoz, also known as Román Alberto Muñoz Reza. This 41-year-old individual, originally from Dallas, Texas, accused of trafficking and smuggling firearms, was related to the attack carried out against the current head of the Secretariat of Citizen Security and Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch.

The detention took place on Tuesday, March 4, in the city of Chihuahua, thanks to a joint operation between police elements of the Strategic Operations Prosecutor's Office, the National Guard, and the Fifth Military Zone of the Secretariat of National Defense. Roland Alberto Muñoz was captured at 11:00 AM and transferred to the border to be handed over to US Marshall authorities at 4:40 PM at the Stanton international bridge, which connects Ciudad Juárez with El Paso, Texas, with support from the National Guard and the National Migration Institute.

The detention occurred on a stretch of the Chihuahua-Cuauhtémoc highway, near a motel named 'Houston,' where Muñoz identified himself with a credential in the name of 'Román Alberto Muñoz Reza.' In addition to being sought by US authorities, this individual is linked to the sale of weapons used in the attempted homicide of García Harfuch, as well as in the murder of a Migration agent in 2022, where two investigative agents lost their lives in Chihuahua. Furthermore, according to the obtained information, he is connected as one of the main suppliers of firearms to cartels in this region.
