A femicide in Chimalhuacán, State of Mexico, has shocked the family of Annete Alejandra and Ilse Andrea, two sisters aged 22 and 28 who lost their lives at the hands of Sebastián N, the uncle of one of their ex-boyfriends, outside their home. Despite more than two weeks having passed, the case remains unsolved, generating great frustration among the victims' relatives.
Alejandra had ended her relationship about a year and a half ago due to the violence she suffered from her ex-boyfriend. Nevertheless, the man began to harass her again in December of last year. Faced with this situation, Alejandra decided to report him and seek a restraining order, but unfortunately, she was unable to do so in time.
One day, two unknown women arrived at the sisters' house looking for Alejandra, the younger of the two. When she opened the door, Alejandra was physically attacked. In the midst of the attack, the unknown women tried to force her into a vehicle waiting outside, presumably sent by her ex-boyfriend. The situation became even more tragic when Andrea, the older sister, came to her aid and was shot dead by Sebastián N.
Andrea died on the spot, while Alejandra passed away the following day in the hospital. The cousins of the young women were seriously injured in the chest, while the sisters' mother miraculously survived despite being grazed by a bullet near her head.
Sebastián N, who already had a criminal record for armed robbery and was wearing an ankle monitor due to his probation, has been identified as responsible for the gunfire. The victims' family harshly criticizes the ineffectiveness of the judicial system and the measures imposed on individuals with criminal histories. Despite wearing a tracking bracelet, Sebastián remains free, which has caused deep bewilderment among the victims' relatives.
The case has highlighted deficiencies in the Mexican judicial system and the lack of progress in the investigations. The family demands justice and questions why Andrea's death is not being considered femicide but rather homicide. As time passes, the family's helplessness increases as they see no significant progress in capturing Sebastián, who discarded the security bracelet to avoid being located.
