In a house in Alameda de Vista Hermosa, in Cortazar, Guanajuato, eight people, five women and three men, were executed. The attack occurred during the early hours of Sunday and was reported by neighbors who heard several gunshots and alerted local police.
Agents from different levels of government arrived at the scene and found the bodies of the eight victims, all with obvious signs of gunshot wounds. Despite the intervention of emergency personnel, all eight were declared dead at the scene, suggesting that five of them were members of the same family.
The Attorney General's Office of the State of Guanajuato has initiated an investigation into the incident and the bodies have been transferred to the Forensic Medical Service for identification. In this context of violence, just one day earlier, in the same state, the execution of another eight people was reported, raising the total to 16 victims in just one day.
