Cuauhtémoc Launches Ambitious Cycling Infrastructure Plan

The mayor of Cuauhtémoc, Alessandra Rojo de la Vega, has announced an ambitious plan to transform mobility in the area. In an effort to promote sustainable mobility and prioritize pedestrians and cyclists, a series of initiatives will be launched.

The pilot project will begin in the Roma-Condesa area and will extend to 33 neighborhoods of the municipality. It will include the pedestrianization of 26 school streets, the creation of an interconnected network of bike lanes, and the development of 20.6 kilometers of cycling infrastructure within three years. Additionally, a Bike School will be established in community centers to educate citizens on the use and benefits of bicycles.

The initiative also includes the implementation of secure bike parking in squares and markets. Rojo de la Vega has committed to making Cuauhtémoc a benchmark for alternative mobility, with safer streets, better lighting, and wide bike lanes that incorporate a gender perspective.

The mayor's mobility plan also encompasses safety measures, improvements in public lighting, as well as the optimization of sidewalks and signage. The goal is to achieve a cultural change in mobility for future generations.

In Cuauhtémoc, where more than 6 million people transit every day, efficient and safe mobility is considered a priority need. The commitment to return power to the people and demonstrate that sustainable mobility is possible drives this series of actions aimed at improving the quality of life for the residents of the municipality.
