Security forces announced the arrest of five individuals allegedly affiliated with a criminal cell associated with the Sinaloa Cartel. According to a joint statement, members of various institutions such as the Secretariat of National Defense (Defensa), Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), Attorney General's Office (FGR), National Guard (GN), and the Secretariat of Citizen Security and Protection (SSPC) carried out simultaneous search warrants in the municipalities of Culiacán, Mazatlán, and Rosario, where three women and two men were captured, and 10 vehicles and firearms were seized.
These actions are the result of investigations and follow-ups on a criminal cell linked to the aforementioned criminal group in Sinaloa. The security forces collected sufficient evidence for a Control Judge to issue the corresponding orders. In a coordinated operation, they searched six properties in Culiacán, two in Mazatlán, and two others in Rosario. As a result, five people were arrested, 10 vehicles were secured, of which three were armored, 13 firearms were seized, including Barret rifles and machine guns, as well as grenades, grenade launchers, ammunition, cash, tactical equipment, and various documents.
According to unofficial reports, one of the notable detainees is Brayan Paul Vega Valdez, known as “Wero Brayan,” 24 years old, who identifies himself as a drug dealer and hitman. He is linked to generating violence and leading a criminal cell under Jorge Humberto Figueroa Benítez, alias “Perris and/or El 27,” a member of the Pacific Cartel faction “Los Chapitos.” Eric Domínguez Galván, 27, a member of a criminal cell dedicated to drug trafficking and hired killing, was also captured. He is pointed out as the author of the homicide of Julio César Soto Meza in 2023 in Plaza Carso, Mexico City.
