During the confrontation, authorities identified a vehicle with armed occupants who, while attempting to escape, threw spike strips onto the roadway and fired at the agents. However, the police repelled the aggression according to established protocols, leading to a chase in the area until the responsible individuals were apprehended. One municipal police officer was injured by shrapnel during the exchange, although authorities reported that the injuries are not life-threatening and he received immediate medical attention. The Public Security Secretariat emphasized that the secretary's direct participation was 'fundamental' to ensure the safety of the elements and control the situation. The official communiqué highlighted that surveillance and reaction operations will continue to be reinforced, reiterating the corporation's commitment to citizen protection and order in Culiacán. 'The operation was carried out with responsibility and firmness to safeguard the integrity of the population,' concluded the department, and recalled that each action is executed following established safety protocols to minimize risks for both citizens and the corporation's own elements. The detained individuals were identified as Josué 'N', 19 years old; José 'N', 17 years old; Samuel 'N', 25 years old; and Rolando 'N', 22 years old; from whom four long weapons, tactical equipment, and a pickup truck were secured.
