Culiacán's Transit Director Assassinated

On Monday morning, the Director of Municipal Roads and Transit in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Francisco Javier Zazueta Lizárraga, was assassinated during an armed attack while on his way to work, local authorities reported. According to the Municipal Public Security Secretariat, the aggression occurred around 8:30 a.m. when the official left his home in the municipality of Aguarruto. He was driving a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck on Adolfo López Mateos Boulevard, at the height of the El Olmo Canal; at that point, armed men intercepted him from another vehicle and opened fire. Following the attack, Zazueta Lizárraga lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a pole. Minutes later, he was still alive when taken to a hospital in an ambulance, but he died later from his injuries. The official, known as 'Z-21', had assumed the head of the Transit Directorate on November 8, 2025, and had 32 years of service within the corporation. Agents from the state's Attorney General's Office for Investigations and Experts arrived at the scene to carry out the corresponding procedures, while a tow truck removed the pickup truck, which had bullet impacts and was abandoned on the median of the boulevard.
