Héctor Melesio Cuén was murdered on the ranch where Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada was kidnapped on July 25, revealed the Attorney General’s Office (FGR). The FGR denied previous reports from the Sinaloa Attorney General’s Office, which claimed that Cuén was murdered at a gas station.
In a statement issued on Sunday, October 20, the FGR announced that they found traces of Cuén's blood, a political opponent of Governor Rubén Rocha Moya in Sinaloa and former rector of the Autonomous University of the state. The Attorney General’s Office, precisely, determined the presence of "hematic evidence," corroborating the version provided by Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada in a letter circulated by his lawyer after his arrest. This information contradicts what was mentioned by the Sinaloa Attorney General’s Office.
The FGR declared the incident at the gas station as a "setup," mentioning that traces of blood from Rodolfo ‘C’ were found, who is missing and was part of ‘Mayo’ Zambada’s security.
After confirming the FGR's version, federal authorities are investigating police officers, public prosecutors, forensic experts, and other personnel from the Sinaloa Attorney General’s Office for their alleged involvement in the murder of Héctor Melesio Cuén. Despite a federal judge in Culiacán refusing to address and order the apprehension of those responsible, the Federal Public Ministry will present the evidence before an alternative judge.
So far, neither the Sinaloa Attorney General’s Office nor the government of Rubén Rocha Moya has responded to the FGR’s accusations regarding the detention of Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada and the murder of Héctor Melesio Cuén.
