The Attorney General of the Republic (FGR), led by Alejandro Gertz Manero, updated the information regarding the detention of the drug trafficker Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada and demanded the United States details about his 'kidnapping.' In a conference, Gertz emphasized that the U.S. government has provided only part of the information, making it vital to obtain more details on how Zambada, after being kidnapped in Culiacán, reached a U.S. border city with a cloned registration aircraft.

Gertz insisted on the need to know how the airplane entered Mexican territory and why the pilot was not detained under those circumstances. This information is expected to be disclosed during the hearings that will clarify the role of the person who carried out the kidnapping along with his brother, and the procedural conditions being granted in the United States.

The detention of 'El Mayo' Zambada occurred after being kidnapped by Joaquín Guzmán López, son of 'El Chapo' Guzmán, thus facilitating the capture of his former partner to obtain procedural benefits for both him and his brother Ovidio, who has been in custody in the U.S. since 2023.

Regarding accusations of alleged irregular collaboration by the governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha, with the faction of 'El Chapo's' sons, Gertz mentioned that they will not make charges until there is solid evidence. He also pointed out that the United States has not explained the reasons why they have not provided the information requested by Mexico for weeks.

In this regard, Gertz reiterated that international legal assistance has been requested, but the responses received so far have been partial, leaving significant unresolved questions.
