In Culiacán, seven police officers have already lost their lives due to recent attacks, which have arisen from the dispute between Los Chapitos and the son of Mayo Zambada. In response to this wave of violence, hundreds of people have joined a march in Sinaloa to demand justice for the tragic murders of a family last Sunday.
The victims, a family consisting of the father and two sons, were shot while traveling in their car in the Los Ángeles neighborhood in Culiacán. The deaths of the two sons, Gael and Alexander, aged 12 and 9 respectively, as well as the father, Antonio de Jesús, aged 32, have been confirmed at the scene of the incident.
During the attack, two police officers, identified as Isidro and Jasiel, lost their lives, while another officer, Francisco Eduardo, was injured. The Sinaloa Public Security Secretariat has reported that the officers were conducting surveillance in the southern part of the city when they were targeted in a direct attack.
Another event related to the violence in the region was the explosion of a monument to drug trafficker Édgar Guzmán López, son of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán. The explosion, which caused significant damage to the mausoleum, occurred in a parking lot north of Culiacán and is already being investigated by the relevant authorities.
Amid this climate of violence and insecurity, the population of Culiacán is shaken by the loss of innocent lives and the constant threat of confrontations between criminal groups.
