Woman Escapes After Three Months of Captivity

Yesterday, Wednesday, in Culiacán, a woman managed to escape from her kidnappers after being deprived of her freedom for three months. The incident took place in the Hacienda del Valle subdivision, where the victim called for help, according to local media reports.

Minutes before 3:00 PM, an emergency call was received at 911 informing about a woman requesting assistance as she was being chased by several people in a red vehicle. Authorities arrived at the scene and found the woman on the streets of the subdivision.

During her initial statement, the woman claimed that the occupants of the red car were the same ones who had held her captive for three months. Following protocols, police officers provided her protection and took her to the relevant authorities to file a formal complaint.

After assisting the victim in her rescue, the case was handed over to the Prosecutor's Office to continue the investigations. A spokesperson for the State Public Security Secretariat indicated that they were not participating in the investigation, as it was the sole responsibility of the Prosecutor's Office, in order to not hinder the process, according to Gerardo Mérida Sánchez, Secretary of Public Security in the state.
