
The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) reported on two events related to armed confrontations in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, that resulted in the detention of 12 people. In the first incident, security forces were attacked by a criminal group in the community of San Francisquito. After the confrontation, three civilians were detained and a significant arsenal of weapons, ammunition, explosives, and vehicles was seized.
On the other hand, the Secretariat of the Navy conducted a successful operation by intercepting three vessels coming from Baja California Sur that were transporting a large quantity of cocaine and fuel for drug production. In total, 2,800 kilos of cocaine were seized, distributed in packages, as well as fuel barrels on the vessels.
In a separate event that took place in Culiacán, Sinaloa, a family was shot at during a chase that left one adult dead and three minors injured. Tragically, one of the children also lost his life while receiving medical attention in a hospital. The family was traveling in a car on California Boulevard when they were attacked by an armed group, leading to a chase through several streets that ended in tragedy.
The deceased adult was identified as Antonio de Jesús, 40 years old. The three injured minors were taken to a hospital, where unfortunately, 12-year-old Gael Antonio also passed away. Authorities have initiated the corresponding investigations to clarify the facts and bring those responsible to justice.
