State and federal security forces seized weapons, ammunition, and tactical equipment, and killed seven alleged criminals in the northern zone of Culiacán during a joint operation carried out this Tuesday. Through a press release, the Secretariat of Public Security of Sinaloa informed that the event occurred during security reconnaissances in the vicinity of Tepuche and Agua Blanca. At the location, state police detected a clandestine settlement with armed individuals and requested land and air military support. Upon arrival of the units, the alleged criminals attempted to flee while shooting at the agents, who repelled the aggression. The Interinstitutional Group was also subjected to two additional armed attacks, which were also repelled, the press release detailed. The operation left seven individuals deceased, each with a long weapon; six AK-47 long weapons abandoned on the ground; 21 magazines; 790 caliber 7.62 x 39 cartridges, and diverse tactical equipment secured. After securing the area, authorities turned all evidence over to the Attorney General's Office of the Republic. The press release highlights that security operations continue on land and air, with the support of a Black Hawk aircraft. The operation involved elements of the Preventive State Police, in coordination with the Mexican Army, the National Guard, the Secretariat of the Navy, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, the Attorney General's Office of the Republic, and the Attorney General's Office of the State. Local media reported that the alleged criminals were accused of participating in the October 16th ambush, in which the military commander, Major Jesús O.B., known as 'Nocturno', lost his life.
