Federal authorities in Mexico conducted an operation in the state of Sinaloa that resulted in the deaths of 11 alleged attackers and one person detained. During the raid in Culiacán, Mónica Zambada Niebla, the daughter of Sinaloa Cartel leader Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada, was detained. However, as clarified by the Security Cabinet, the woman had no arrest warrant or evidence linking her directly to criminal activities at the time. In accordance with established protocols and in strict adherence to the law, she was released and handed over to her relatives.
The operation was carried out by the Mexican Navy as part of coordinated federal actions against organized crime in the state. The first phase of the operation took place in Valle Escondido, where a 39-year-old man, Omar Oswaldo Torres Cabada, alias 'El Patas', was detained. During the second phase, as naval personnel arrived at another property allegedly used by the same criminal cell, they were fired upon. This led to a shootout where 11 attackers were killed. High-powered weaponry and tactical equipment were also secured at the scene.
Images circulated on social media showing people in the locality of El Salado who allegedly attempted to thwart Mónica Zambada's capture. Another video showed the moment she was handed over to her family after disembarking from an official helicopter.
