Aldo “N”, alias “El Balú”, a member of the criminal group “La Chokiza” and a federal priority target, was arrested by municipal police and Marine Task Force elements at the tianguis (market) in the La Guadalupana neighborhood of Ecatepec, State of Mexico. According to an official statement, the operation was prompted by a report from residents to the Command Center about shots fired at the neighborhood's Christmas market this Tuesday night. The operation involved special units from the Metropolitan Police and the Marine Corps, who detected a group of people disturbing the order. Among them was a man apparently carrying a weapon, so “the police intervened to preserve public order and social peace.” During the action, “El Balú” was apprehended; he had attempted to flee and was found in possession of a .32 caliber pistol with a loaded magazine containing eight cartridges. The statement notes that local merchants tried to prevent the arrest. “El Balú is considered a federal priority target for his involvement in extortion, dispossession, homicide, arms trafficking, drug dealing, and extortion rackets, and during his arrest he boasted of being a member of the criminal organization 'La Chokiza,'” the agency stated. The suspect was transferred to the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO), under the Attorney General's Office, to determine his legal status.
