The band Maná expressed their excitement at being nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, describing this nomination as a dream come true. The group mentioned that growing up listening to iconic rock artists such as The Beatles, Queen, and Santana influenced their music, and being considered for this prestigious international recognition is an honor.
According to the rules of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, artists or bands are eligible for nomination 25 years after releasing their first commercial recording. Maná, known for hits like 'Oye mi amor' and 'Mariposa traicionera', becomes the first Spanish-speaking rock band to be considered for this historic recognition.
In addition to Maná, 13 other artists, including Bad Company, Mariah Carey, Joy Division/New Order, and The White Stripes, have also been nominated to join this select group in 2025. The nominees are chosen by voting from a panel of more than 1,200 personalities from the music industry, followed by a public vote.
Musician Joe Walsh of the Eagles expressed his support for Maná, highlighting the importance of the band in Hispanic music. Fher Olvera, vocalist of Maná, shared his excitement for the nomination on social media, emphasizing that this recognition not only honors the band but also the entire Latino culture and those who enjoy music in Spanish.
If included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Maná would become the first Spanish-speaking rock band to achieve this recognition. The band expressed gratitude for the nomination and was excited about the possibility of making history in music.
