
The capital of Guadalajara, Tapatía, is preparing to welcome the world's diving elite with the official presentation of the first stage of the 2025 FINA Diving World Cup series. The event will take place from April 3 to 6 at the Metropolitan Aquatic Center, marking the beginning of the journey towards the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore and the Olympic cycle of Los Angeles 2028.
The president of the Mexican Olympic Committee, María José Alcalá Izguerra, thanked World Aquatics for choosing Mexico as the host of this World Cup, as well as the Government of the State of Jalisco and Rommel Pacheco, director of CONADE, for their collaboration in bringing together the best divers in the world in Jalisco.
The competition will feature the participation of more than 120 divers from 20 different countries, including Olympic and world medalists from powers such as China, Great Britain, Japan, Australia, the United States, and Mexico. The Mexican delegation will consist of 14 athletes, including the Olympic medalists from Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.
Among the new figures joining the Mexican representation are sisters Lia, Mia, and Suri Cueva Lobato, who are part of the preparation for Los Angeles 2028. Rommel Pacheco, director of CONADE, emphasized the importance of unity in sport to ensure the success of the event.
The governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus Navarro, highlighted the investment of 1.9 billion pesos in sports infrastructure as part of the state's commitment to sports development. This first stage of the 2025 Diving World Cup will be followed by two other stages in Windsor, Canada, and Beijing, China.
