Guadalajara Safety: Holiday Recommendations

Guadalajara police have issued recommendations for residents planning trips and those staying home, as part of the 'Holy Week and Easter' operation. Authorities call for shared responsibility to maintain city safety.

Guadalajara Safety: Holiday Recommendations

With the aim of preventing incidents and strengthening security during the holiday period, the Guadalajara Citizen Security Commissioner's Office called for public co-responsibility and shared a series of recommendations for those leaving the city, as well as for those staying in it.

They share security measures to protect homes. In this way, they highlighted that for tapatíos (Guadalajara residents) planning to travel, the municipal authority recommended taking basic precautions before leaving. Among them, asking a trusted person to supervise the home and collect mail, in addition to verifying that doors and windows are completely closed. Similarly, it is suggested to reinforce entrances, gates, and walls, as well as install peepholes and security locks.

Therefore, it was recommended not to lose sight of belongings and to pay special attention to children and the elderly. For those traveling by bus or plane, it is suggested to buy round-trip tickets and carry only the necessary luggage.

Special operation and citizen support

As part of the Holy Week and Easter operation, to be carried out from March 30 to April 10, the Guadalajara Police will deploy around 800 officers daily in coordination with various municipal departments. These actions will focus on reinforcing surveillance in residential areas, tourist corridors, and religious sites.

Likewise, the corporation will keep the "Safe Transfer" program active, aimed at providing an escort for cash withdrawal or valuables transport, which can be requested directly from the Commissioner's Office.

To conclude, the authorities reiterated the importance of citizen participation to maintain safe environments during this holiday period.

Recommendations during the trip

When traveling, the Commissioner's Office urged to avoid carrying large amounts of cash and prioritize the use of bank cards. It was also indicated to previously check the vehicle's condition, including fluid levels, tires, and general status, to prevent road setbacks. However, personal vigilance is also key.
