To facilitate mobility during the holiday period, the MiBici system announced an extension of the travel time per trip during its first period during Holy Week. In this way, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of Holy Week, users will be able to use the bicycles for up to 45 minutes at no additional cost, which will allow for longer and more accessible trips in the city.
More time to enjoy the city The measure aims to encourage recreational trips, while also offering a sustainable transport alternative. Access is granted through the Mi Movilidad card or the system's mobile app. Likewise, authorities recommend planning your routes in advance, staying hydrated, using sunscreen, and wearing a helmet for greater safety.
Upon exceeding that time, additional charges apply. The bicycles are equipped with automatic LED lights, drum brakes, and fenders, which improves safety. The system allows you to pick up a bicycle at any station and return it to a different or the same one, providing flexibility in travel. Trips under 30 minutes are free with the subscription; however, during the specified Holy Week days, the first period will be extended to 45 minutes.
The direct connection with MiBici stations allows for continuous route planning without the need to use a car.
System coverage and operation Currently, MiBici has 22,000 active users and a network of 370 automated stations, available every day of the year from 05:00 to 00:59. In this regard, it should be noted that many of the system's stations are located near urban parks, facilitating access to ideal spaces for rest, socializing, and contact with nature.
Urban parks are the main destinations Among the most prominent points are stations near spaces such as Parque Ávila Camacho, Parque Revolución, Parque Rojo, Parque Zuno, and Parque de las Estrellas. In the same way, other spaces like Parque Agua Azul, Parque Morelos, or Parque Alcalde also have nearby stations. These sites offer alternatives for those seeking outdoor activities during Holy Week, whether with family, friends, or individually.
According to Antonio Martín del Campo, administrator of the Metropolitan Agency for Infrastructure for Mobility (AMIM), this action promotes the use of the bicycle as a healthy and practical option to travel through the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara (AMG). Additionally, he invited the citizenry to discover the city during the holiday season.
