Pancho Barraza, a reference of the Sinaloan band, begins a new stage in his career after signing a contract with Fonovisa Records. The 63-year-old singer, who marked an era as the vocalist of Banda Los Recoditos in the 90s, decided to step away from music for a decade due to excesses, until an invitation from Julián Álvarez in 2016 to his tour 'My Idols Today My Friends' pushed him to return to his passion.
Ricardo Bobadilla, CEO of RB Music, an independent company that manages Barraza's career, has been fundamental in this return. After receiving recognition from Pancho Barraza himself in 2015, Bobadilla offered to collaborate with him and they have been working together enthusiastically since then.
The alliance with Fonovisa Records will lead to the total distribution of Pancho Barraza's music by the company, allowing him to reach new levels of recognition. They are preparing releases with unreleased tracks and surprising collaborations, although the names of the participating artists are not revealed for now.
Regarding his latest release titled 'My Other Self,' a collaboration with Charlie Zaa in a band version, Barraza comments that the experience of recording with Zaa was very pleasant. Both artists complemented each other well and enjoyed the creative process.
Barraza affirms that, with more than 30 years of career in regional Mexican music, he sees no significant differences between current music and that made in his time. He emphasizes that, regardless of the language used, the essence of banda music remains the same, with instruments like the charcheta, tuba, and trombone as fundamental pillars.
With plans to expand into other markets like Central America and Colombia in future tours, Pancho Barraza looks to the future with optimism and determination. Despite the challenges, the singer demonstrates that attitude and passion for music are key elements to moving forward in the industry.
