Jalisco Authorities Open Special Prosecutor's Offices After Wave of Violence

The Jalisco State Prosecutor's Office has set up special prosecutor's offices to allow victims of car thefts or arsons to file complaints. This decision follows the preliminary report of 255 damaged vehicles resulting from the violence on February 22. The objective is to facilitate the reception of complaints and expedite the integration of investigation files for the incidents recorded since Sunday. In the metropolitan area, victims can go to the Vice-Prosecutorate for Specialized Criminal Investigation, located at Calle 14, number 2567, in the Guadalajara Industrial Zone. For citizen guidance on the process, the Prosecutor's Office has enabled the WhatsApp number 33-1046-6984. The Prosecutor's Office also clarified that all its regional delegations across the state are available to receive reports of incidents that occurred outside the metropolitan area over the weekend. In a statement, the authority called on those affected to formalize their corresponding complaints and reminded that the official portal provides the locations of the prosecutor's offices. The authorities emphasized that these complaints will allow for a more accurate assessment of the total number of damages and to follow up on ongoing investigations. The official preliminary count is 255 damaged vehicles, located in municipal seats, federal highways, and state highways, although this number could increase as complaints are processed. Additionally, the authorities are pending the removal of 57 vehicles, including cars, trucks, and tankers, with cleanup and collection efforts expected to conclude this Tuesday and Wednesday.
