The Guadalajara City Council unanimously approved the donation of a plot of land to the University of Guadalajara (UDG), which will be used for the construction of a new module for Preparatory School 5. The land is located in the El Sauz neighborhood, and according to authorities, it represents an important step in expanding secondary-level educational infrastructure. The decision was made during a plenary session of the City Council, led by Mayor Verónica Delgadillo, and was also attended by the Rector General, Karla Planter, as well as university authorities and rectors of various educational institutions.

A boost for secondary education This new module aims to address the growing demand for educational spaces in Guadalajara. It is also presented as an alternative to bring education closer to more young people, especially in areas where access may be limited. Authorities highlighted that the expansion of Preparatory School 5 not only responds to an infrastructure need but is also part of a broader strategy to strengthen public education in the city. With this, they explained, they aim to generate greater opportunities for academic and personal development for the youth.

Commitment to equality and social development During the session, Mayor Verónica Delgadillo emphasized that these actions not only benefit current students but are also part of a long-term vision to reduce inequalities. "Guadalajara is parting with a portion of its heritage to the University of Guadalajara with a very clear and profound message: we are betting on education, because those of us who are part of this council and this government believe in it as a lever to build social justice and reduce the inequality gaps that exclude those who matter most to us: the young," expressed the mayor. She also stressed that the project is the result of collaboration between the municipal government and the state's leading institution of higher education, which reinforces the importance of institutional alliances.

A space to build community In this regard, they pointed out that the new module is expected to function not only as an academic space but also as a meeting point for the community. "We are convinced that in this module, a community will be built: inward and outward [...] we want this space to be an opportunity for people to continue growing, and we believe that hand in hand with Rector Karla Planter, this will be possible," she added.
